How does delivery work?

Freight, kerbside, on a lift-gate truck. The carrier calls ahead to arrange a window, and someone needs to be there to receive and sign for it. This one crates at 220.0 lbs.

A scuffed crate, torn wrap or dust is normal — that is what a crate looks like after a freight journey and it is not a reason to turn the delivery away. Sign for it, but if there is any mark at all, write the word DAMAGED next to your name along with what you can see. Carriers only accept the word damaged, and that note is what keeps a claim open if you find something later.

Unpack it and find a problem? Call us within 24 hours. That is the manufacturer's own inspection window for shipping damage on this line rather than ours, and it is what decides whether a claim can be made at all. We file it and deal with the carrier.

What are the electrical requirements?

This model: 120VAC required on Electronic Ignition models only.

  • Match lit models need no electrical supply at all — they are lit by hand with the supplied key.
  • Electronic ignition needs a 120V outdoor receptacle at the pit, installed and grounded in accordance with local codes. That is an electrician's job, not an extension lead.
  • Worth quoting together: the gas connection is a licensed installer's job too, so get both priced in one visit.

Your installer will want this model's rated output to size the gas line — it is in the specification table further down this page.

Does it arrive assembled?

Yes. The burner, pan and valve are fitted before it ships, and the enclosure arrives as one piece in its crate. There are no panels to assemble.

One decorative aggregate is included — whichever you choose above. The options are Ivory Beachstone, Slate Beachstone or Black Lava Rock.

Installation type: Freestanding.

What it still needs is a gas connection by a licensed installer, and on a wood or composite deck, the manufacturer's deck insulation kit.

What does the warranty cover?

This is the manufacturer's warranty, not ours. The warrantor is HPC Fire Canada ULC, an Alberta unlimited liability company, trading as Dekko.

Cover is tiered rather than a single figure — the concrete shell, the burner and the electronics are each warranted for different lengths of time. The full terms are set out further down this page.

Worth knowing before you buy: cover runs from the date the manufacturer shipped the unit rather than the date you bought it, it is not transferable if you sell the property, and it is void if any coating or sealer is applied to the concrete.

The piece

What you are buying

Cast lightweight concrete, made by Dekko, which HPC bought outright in 2025. Dekko still makes it by hand in North America. Concrete is the reason to choose this over steel or copper: it reads as built rather than placed, and it sits beside stone and rendered walls without arguing with them.

The Bravo shares the Alea's square footprint and does something stranger with it: a rounded, concave centre meeting sharp squared edges, with crisp indentations cut across the faces. It is the most sculptural piece in the concrete range.

It measures 32″ W × 32″ D × 13″ H and weighs 115 lb before crating.

You are specifying this one rather than picking it off a shelf. Six concrete finishes and three decorative aggregates are yours to choose, and they change the character of the piece far more than its shape does - Natural with Ivory Beachstone reads coastal, Charcoal with Black Lava Rock reads almost industrial. Every piece is cast, so tone and texture vary a little from the photograph, and screens shift colour on top of that.

Lightweight is meant literally - Dekko casts these hollow, so at 115 lb it installs with standard tools and needs no heavy equipment or added structural support.

Match lit models are hand-lit with the supplied chrome key and need no electrical supply at all. Electronic ignition starts at the touch of a button and includes an on/off remote - it needs a 120V outdoor GFCI receptacle at the pit, grounded in accordance with local codes.

Two practical things before you order. Dekko requires that the gas connection is made by a certified gas technician, so budget for that rather than a weekend. And it arrives by freight to the kerb, so it is worth deciding now how it gets from there to where it is going.

About cast concrete

Every one of these is cast, so texture and tone vary a little from piece to piece and from the photograph. That variation is the material behaving like concrete rather than a fault, and it is not something we or the manufacturer treat as a defect. We would rather you know that now than discover it on a kerb.

Screens shift colour too, so treat the photographs as a guide to the tone rather than a match.

Concrete moves, and Dekko says so in its own warranty: fine cosmetic cracking, chips and marks are expected as the piece weathers, and are treated as natural patina rather than a defect — so they are not covered. Significant cracking of the shell is a different thing and may be. Either way, photograph it and call us the day you notice it, because the manufacturer's claim windows are short. Dekko's own installation guide adds the part that makes that bearable: every piece is fibre-reinforced, which is what stops a hairline crack growing into anything.

Two things about the aggregate, both from Dekko. Lava rock and beach stone are natural stone, so occasional cracking or popping when heated is normal — inspect the stones and set aside any that already have hairline cracks before you arrange them around the burner. And never light it wet: moisture trapped in stone that is heated quickly is what makes it pop. After heavy rain or a clean, let it dry right through.

The first time you light it

Dekko requires a first burn: run it for one to two hours straight, and keep a sensible distance while you do, because that is when a stone with a flaw in it will find out. It is a one-off, and it is worth doing on an evening you are not entertaining.

One more, if you are choosing Ivory Beachstone: deposits of magnesium and iron can show on the lighter stone once it has been heated. Dekko treats that as a natural reaction rather than a defect, and so do we — it is worth seeing a photograph of a used one before you settle on the palest option.

Will it fit where you want to put it?

The question that decides most fire-pit returns, and it is usually answered after the crate arrives. The manufacturer publishes these figures in the install manual, so here they are first.

    Every one of these has air-flow openings built into the shell, and the manufacturer requires them to stay open and uncovered. Worth knowing before you plan to box the pit into a surround or set it tight against anything.

    Building on a deck?

    A wood or composite deck surface requires the manufacturer's deck insulation kit — basalt material and instructions. It is not included and it is not optional. HPC publishes it in two sizes, FPI-DECK20SQ and FPI-DECK39SQ, and they are sized to the inside of the pit rather than its outside, which is easy to get wrong. Tell us the model and we will put the right one on the order and confirm what else the deck needs underneath.
