About This Collection

The Finnish ritual, at home.

Traditional saunas deliver the classic Finnish experience — a proper sauna heater, higher temperatures than infrared, and löyly steam when you ladle water over the rocks. Our Golden Designs traditional range spans indoor cabins, outdoor barrel and barn styles, and 2- to 6-person capacities, from the St. Moritz barrel at $5,099 to the flagship 6-person outdoor Bergen at $16,099. Every unit ships free by freight and carries the manufacturer's warranty, with the terms for each model printed on its product page and the claim handled by us. Monthly payments are available through Shop Pay at 0–36% APR, subject to an eligibility check. Not sure whether you're a high-heat-and-steam person or a gentle-infrared person? Our infrared vs. traditional comparison gives you the honest trade-offs in five minutes.

Contrast Therapy

Pair the heat with a cold plunge.

Alternating sauna heat and cold immersion amplifies both — circulation, recovery, and a clean jolt of mental clarity, all from home.

Step One

Traditional Sauna

Deep heat works into muscle and joint until you are properly sweating. 20–45 minutes warms you through before the cold.

Step Two

Cold Plunge

Cold immersion flushes inflammation and floods the brain with norepinephrine — alert, recovered, energised.

Common Questions

Traditional saunas, answered plainly.

What's the difference between a traditional and an infrared sauna?
A traditional sauna heats the air to 150–195°F with a rock-filled heater, and you pour water over the rocks for steam (löyly) — the classic, social, high-heat experience. Infrared saunas instead warm your body directly at a gentler 120–150°F. Both deliver a deep, restorative sweat.
How long does assembly take and what wiring do I need?
Most traditional cabins assemble in 1–3 hours with two people. The heater needs a dedicated circuit — typically 240V for 4.5kW and larger units — installed by a licensed electrician. Smaller plug-in 120V heaters are available on select models.
Wood-fired or electric — which should I choose?
Electric is the convenience pick: set the temperature, come back when it's ready, no fuel to store. Wood-fired is the tradition pick: no wiring at all, works anywhere on your property, and many people simply love tending the stove. If your sauna site is far from your electrical panel, wood-fired often ends up cheaper to install.
How hot does a traditional sauna get, and how long does it take?
Traditional saunas run 150–195°F — hotter than infrared's 120–150°F — and most heaters bring the room to temperature in 30–45 minutes. Pouring water over the rocks adds a wave of steam that makes the heat feel deeper without raising the thermostat.
What warranty and shipping do these come with?
Free curbside freight delivery on every order with dispatch in 1–3 business days, the full manufacturer warranty as an authorized Golden Designs dealer, and a 30-day return window for unassembled units. Monthly payments are available through Shop Pay Installments, with rates from 0–36% APR subject to an eligibility check.
