How this is calculated (assumptions & method)
Running cost. Energy per session = heater power (kW) × session length (hours) × a 70% duty cycle, because the heaters cycle on and off to hold temperature rather than running at full power the whole time. Cost = energy × your electricity rate. Monthly uses 4.33 weeks; yearly uses 52 weeks.
Defaults. Electricity rate defaults to $0.17/kWh (near the 2026 U.S. residential average) — set it to your actual rate for a precise figure. Model presets use representative heater wattages; your exact model's spec plate may differ, so adjust the slider if you know it.
Payback. Annual savings = your spa/gym cost per year minus the sauna's yearly running cost. Payback months = purchase price ÷ (annual savings ÷ 12). It doesn't include financing, accessories, or resale — it's a straight electricity-vs-membership comparison to give you an honest ballpark.

Estimates are for general planning only and depend on your actual sauna wattage, usage, and local electricity rate. Real-world costs vary with insulation, ambient temperature, and how the unit cycles. Not financial advice.
