Will it run off a propane tank?
It is the question that decides most fire-pit returns, and the answer is not the same for every model — or even for every version of the same model. Here is the rule, and then every model we list, sorted by the answer.

Three ways to light it.
The ignition you choose decides three things at once: whether a portable tank is allowed, whether you need an electrician, and what you can do from the sofa.

You decide when you configure it
11 modelsThese carry both ignitions in one product, so the answer follows the version you pick. Choose Match Lit and it runs from a portable tank — the hose and regulator are ordered separately. Choose Electronic Ignition and it needs a fixed gas line and an outdoor outlet.

The tank hides inside the base

The tank will not fit inside
3 modelsThese run on propane, but the manufacturer states a 20 lb tank does not fit in the base. Decide where it will sit before it arrives, or run a fixed line instead.
These need a fixed gas line
12 modelsThe manufacturer states fixed piping only, not for use with portable or small tanks. Running the line is a licensed gas fitter's job and is worth quoting before you order rather than after.

Two things people find out too late.
Electronic ignition needs an outdoor outlet, not an extension lead
The manufacturer's wording is a 120V outdoor receptacle, installed and grounded in accordance with local codes, at the pit itself. It is worth quoting alongside the gas line because it is the same trade visit — and it is the single most common reason an electronic-ignition pit sits unused after delivery.
The fuel is chosen when you order, not swapped afterwards
The Outdoor GreatRoom tables arrive configured for liquid propane with the natural-gas conversion kit in the box, so either is possible — but converting is a licensed gas fitter's job, not a weekend one. On the HPC and Dekko models the fuel is part of the SKU, so it is decided at the point of order. Either way, know which supply you are on before you choose.
