Dynamic Gracia Review: Yes, Costco Sells It Cheaper

It's the best-selling entry sauna Golden Designs makes, and you can buy it from a warehouse club for less than we charge. Here's the honest version of what that does and doesn't change.

Dynamic Gracia 1-2 person infrared sauna in Canadian Hemlock

The Dynamic Gracia is the sauna Golden Designs calls its most popular entry cabin, and it deserves that. It's compact, it plugs into a normal wall socket, two people can clasp it together in about an hour, and at $1,999 it is a genuinely sensible first sauna.

It is also stocked by Costco, usually a couple of hundred dollars below what authorized dealers like us charge. Rather than pretend that isn't happening, let's deal with it first β€” because the way most retailers handle this question is misleading, and we'd rather be useful.

The Costco question, answered straight

You will find retailers telling you that a sauna bought from a warehouse club or a marketplace carries a void warranty because the seller isn't an authorized dealer. That is not true, and we're not going to say it.

We publish the full Golden Designs warranty text on every product page, and you can read it yourself. It conditions cover on being the original purchaser at the original site of installation. It says the warranty becomes valid at time of purchase and that your sales receipt is your proof of purchase. There is no clause anywhere conditioning validity on which shop sold it. Golden Designs distributes to Costco deliberately β€” it is a legitimate channel for their product, not a grey market.

So what does actually differ? Three things, and they're all about what happens after the money changes hands.

Who picks up the phone

The manufacturer routes service through the dealer who sold it. If a heating panel fails in year three, the practical question is who you call, who diagnoses it, and who arranges the return authorisation with Golden Designs. That's a service difference, not a validity one β€” but on a sauna you intend to keep for a decade it's a real one.

Who handles the freight damage

This arrives as a 315 lb palletised freight delivery. Crate damage is common and the inspection process at the kerb determines whether a claim succeeds. Knowing what to photograph and what to write on the delivery note before the driver leaves is worth more than the price difference if it ever happens once.

What you're told before you buy

The interior is 35" Γ— 32". Nobody at a warehouse club is going to talk you out of a sauna because two people won't fit comfortably. We will, and this article is us doing it.

If price is the only thing that matters to you, buy it wherever it's cheapest β€” genuinely. We'd rather you own a sauna than not. But if you want a named dealer who answers the phone in three years' time, that's the difference you're paying for, and it isn't a warranty scare story.

The warranty is not void if you buy it elsewhere. Anyone who tells you otherwise hasn't read the document they're citing.

The capacity line, translated

The Gracia is sold as 1–2 person. In practice it is a very good one-person sauna.

The interior measures 35 inches wide by 32 inches deep β€” an inch narrower than the Avila and the Barcelona, which share a 36" Γ— 32" interior at the same $1,999. Two adults physically fit. Two adults sitting shoulder to shoulder for forty minutes, several times a week, is a different proposition.

If a second person will genuinely be in there with you on a regular basis, the honest recommendation is to skip all three of these and read the Cordoba review. The Cordoba is the first cabin in the range the manufacturer describes as plainly "2 Person" with no hedging, and its interior is 42" Γ— 36". It costs $200 more than the Gracia. That is the cheapest $200 you will ever spend on not regretting a purchase.

Three Gracias, one cabin

Gracia β€” $1,999

Seven Low EMF carbon panels, rated 5–10 mG measured 2–3 inches from the panel.

Gracia Elite β€” $2,199

Seven Ultra Low EMF panels, rated 3–5 mG at the same distance. Identical cabin otherwise β€” $200 to roughly halve the published rating.

Gracia Full Spectrum β€” $2,599

Six heaters total: four Near Zero EMF far infrared panels rated under 3 mG, plus two near infrared elements the other two versions physically cannot produce. This is the only one of the three that is a different kind of heat, not just a quieter version of the same one.

Worth repeating: those milligauss figures are all measured 2–3 inches from the panel, much closer than you will ever sit. Our guide to EMF meter readings covers what a home meter actually tells you, and full spectrum vs far infrared is worth reading before paying the $600 premium for near infrared you may not want.

Where it's brilliant, and where it isn't

Brilliant for

  • A first sauna where the risk needs to feel small
  • Solo daily use β€” comfortable, with room to spare
  • Apartments, spare rooms, master baths, home offices
  • Avoiding electrical work entirely
  • Budgets right at the $2,000 mark
  • Anyone who wants a named dealer rather than a checkout

Look elsewhere if

  • Two people will use it together regularly β€” buy the Cordoba
  • Price is your only criterion β€” Costco will be cheaper
  • You want to lie down; interior height is 68"
  • You want it outdoors. Indoor only, warranty-voiding.
  • You want traditional steam heat β€” this is infrared, 118–132Β°F
  • You want cedar; this is hemlock

Before you order the Gracia

  • Measure 39" Γ— 36" on your actual floor, plus room to swing the door.
  • Check the route in β€” one box, 315 lb shipping weight, and it still has to make the stair turn.
  • Be honest about the second person. 35" Γ— 32" is one seat with a guest option.
  • Pick your outlet β€” standard 120V, just not one already shared with a heavy appliance.
  • Decide which of the three heating packages you want before comparing prices anywhere, so you're comparing like for like.

Across our whole range we're at 4.85β˜… from 397 owner reviews. The Gracia ships free with the manufacturer warranty, and if you want a second opinion on whether one seat is enough for your household β€” or on whether the Cordoba is the better buy β€” that's genuinely what the phone number is for.

Dynamic Gracia FAQ

Costco sells it cheaper β€” should I buy it there?
If price is your only consideration, buy it wherever it's cheapest. Costco is a legitimate Golden Designs channel and it's the same sauna. What differs is service: who answers the phone and arranges the return authorisation if something fails in year three. Anyone telling you the warranty is void because the seller wasn't an authorized dealer is wrong β€” read the warranty text on this page.
Is it a 1 or 2 person sauna?
Listed 1–2 person; in practice a very good one-person cabin. Interior 35" Γ— 32" β€” an inch narrower than the Avila and Barcelona. If two people will use it regularly, buy the Cordoba, which is a genuine 2-person at 42" Γ— 36".
What's the difference between Gracia, Elite and Full Spectrum?
Same cabin, three heating packages. Standard $1,999: 7 Low EMF carbon panels, 5–10 mG at 2–3". Elite $2,199: 7 Ultra Low EMF, 3–5 mG. Full Spectrum $2,599: 6 heaters total β€” 4 Near Zero EMF far infrared under 3 mG plus 2 near infrared elements the others can't produce.
Does it need special wiring?
No. Standard 120V/15A non-GFCI plug and play, with a dedicated outlet recommended β€” meaning one not shared with a heavy appliance. See plug-and-play vs hardwired.
How heavy is it and can it go outside?
255 lb sauna, 315 lb shipping weight, single box, clasp-together assembly. Indoor use only β€” placing it outdoors voids the manufacturer warranty.
