Dynamic Barcelona Review: Read the Capacity Line First

It's one of our best sellers, it plugs into a normal outlet, and it says "1–2 person" on the box. That last part deserves a conversation.

Dynamic Barcelona 2-person low EMF far infrared sauna in Canadian hemlock with a glass door

The Dynamic Barcelona is one of the best-selling saunas we stock, and we think it deserves that. It's $1,999, it plugs into an ordinary wall socket, and two people can put it together in about an hour without anybody filing for divorce. For a first sauna it's genuinely hard to beat.

It's also listed as a "1–2 person" cabin, and that phrase does a lot of heavy lifting. So let's start there, because it's the single most common reason anyone is disappointed by this sauna β€” and it's entirely avoidable.

The capacity question, answered honestly

The manufacturer's own specification describes the Barcelona as a compact unit, ideal for one person. We'd echo that, and we'd rather tell you now than have you discover it after delivery.

The interior measures 36 inches wide by 32 inches deep. Two adults will physically fit in that. Whether two adults will enjoy fitting in that is a different question, and depends heavily on how fond of each other they are. As a solo sauna with room to stretch out and put a book down, it's excellent. As a two-person sauna for regular shared sessions, it's tight.

If you want two people sitting comfortably with air between them, step up to a larger two-person cabin. We'd rather sell you the right one once than the wrong one cheaply β€” and if you're weighing the Barcelona against its slightly roomier sibling, we've compared them directly in Gracia vs Barcelona.

Buy it as a superb one-person sauna and you'll love it. Buy it as a two-person sauna and you'll wish you'd read the interior dimensions.

The 120V line is the underrated hero here. A great many saunas β€” including every barrel and traditional cabin we sell β€” need a dedicated 240V circuit and therefore an electrician, which quietly adds several hundred dollars and a scheduling headache. The Barcelona doesn't. You put it in the room and plug it in. For anyone renting, or anyone who'd rather not open the consumer unit, that's the whole ballgame.

Barcelona or Barcelona Elite?

This is the second decision people get stuck on, and it's refreshingly simple, because the two cabins are otherwise identical β€” same dimensions, same hemlock, same chromotherapy, same 120V, same speakers.

Barcelona β€” $1,999

Six Low EMF carbon panels, rated 5–10 mG measured 2–3 inches from the panel.

Barcelona Elite β€” $2,199

Six Ultra Low EMF carbon panels, rated 3–5 mG at the same measuring distance. Everything else is the same cabin.

So: is $200 worth it?

You're paying roughly a hundred dollars per milligauss to about halve the rating. If you plan to use it several times a week for years, or EMF is something you actively think about, it's a small premium for a meaningful spec difference and we'd take the Elite. If you're an occasional user and the budget is tight, the standard Barcelona is already a genuine low-EMF cabin β€” not a compromise.

Worth knowing: those figures are measured 2–3 inches from the panel, which is far closer than you actually sit. If you want the whole catalog sorted by published milligauss rather than marketing adjectives, our low-EMF ranking does exactly that, and what a cheap EMF meter really tells you explains why home readings often look alarming and usually aren't.

Where it's brilliant, and where it isn't

Brilliant for

  • A first sauna, where simplicity matters most
  • Solo use β€” genuinely comfortable with room to spare
  • Apartments, spare rooms, garages, rentals
  • Anyone avoiding electrical work entirely
  • Small footprints β€” 39" Γ— 36" is about a large armchair
  • Budgets around the $2,000 mark

Look elsewhere if

  • Two people will use it together regularly
  • You want to lie down rather than sit
  • You want traditional steam heat β€” this is infrared, 118–132Β°F
  • You want full spectrum near/mid infrared
  • You're very tall and want to stand up inside

On that last point: interior height is 67 inches, so this is a sauna you sit in, not one you stand in. That's true of most cabins in this class and isn't a flaw β€” just measure your expectations along with your floor space.

Before you order the Barcelona

  • Measure 39" Γ— 36" on your actual floor, and add 2" of depth for the roof overhang.
  • Check the doorway and stair turns on the route in β€” the box has to get there too.
  • Confirm you're happy with one-person comfort before choosing this over a larger cabin.
  • Decide on Low vs Ultra Low EMF β€” it's $200 and the only difference between the two models.
  • You do not need an electrician. A standard 120V outlet is genuinely all it takes.

Across our whole range we're at 4.85β˜… from 397 owner reviews, and the Barcelona is one of the models that keeps that number where it is. It ships free with a 5-year manufacturer warranty, and if you want a second opinion on whether it's the right size for your space, that's genuinely what the phone number is for β€” we'd rather spend ten minutes now than process a return later.

Dynamic Barcelona FAQ

Is the Barcelona a 1 or 2 person sauna?
It's listed as 1–2 person and the manufacturer spec calls it a compact unit ideal for one person. The interior is 36" wide by 32" deep β€” two adults fit, but it's close quarters. For two people sitting comfortably, choose a larger 2-person cabin.
Does it need special wiring?
No. It runs on a standard 120V household outlet β€” no electrician, no dedicated 240V circuit, no hardwiring. It ships in a single box and two people can typically assemble it in under an hour. See plug-and-play vs hardwired for which saunas do need an electrician.
What's the difference between the Barcelona and the Elite?
Only the panels. The standard Barcelona has six Low EMF carbon panels rated 5–10 mG (measured 2–3" from the panel) at $1,999. The Elite has Ultra Low EMF panels rated 3–5 mG at $2,199. Same cabin, same size, same features β€” $200 to roughly halve the EMF rating.
How hot does it get?
The ideal range is 118–132Β°F. That's normal for far infrared, which warms your body directly rather than heating the air. If you're expecting the 180Β°F air of a traditional Finnish sauna, see our infrared vs traditional guide β€” they're genuinely different experiences.
